4. Best neighborhoods to stay in Paris: which area to choose?

The best! In our opinion, the best areas to stay in Paris are Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Louvre district, Faubourg Saint-Germain, and the Champs-Élysées (the southern part, near the Seine).

Other interesting neighborhoods. Well-known neighborhoods such as the Marais, the Latin Quarter, or Montmartre can also be considered. These are interesting neighborhoods to visit, but not necessarily for staying (especially Montmartre).

Good to know! Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements. The wealthiest arrondissements are to the west and the least wealthy to the east of Paris. The wealthiest arrondissements are the 7th, 16th, 8th, and 6th, and the least wealthy are the 18th, 19th, and 20th.

1.1 Saint-Germain-des-Prés and Odéon (6th arrondissement)

1.5 The Marais (4th arrondissement)

It is a small neighborhood with narrow streets. An essential area to visit, but not the best place to stay in Paris for everyone.

5. Areas to avoid in Paris

Paris is a safe city. However, some places are to be avoided if you are a tourist. Thus, in the evening, it is preferable to avoid the districts near the metro stations of Barbes-Rouchechouart, Chateau Rouge, Stalingrad, and the Gare du Nord district.

The best places to visit in Paris are not always the best places to stay. If you are going to Paris for the first time, choose the central districts or hotels near the metro.
