1. Best time to visit the Eiffel Tower in Paris

If it is your first trip to Paris, for sure, a visit to the Eiffel Tower is on your bucket list. But you need to know that some days the visit could go more smoothly than others. Here are some tips for visiting the Eiffel Tower:

  • Saturday and Sunday are the most crowded days.
  • The best days to visit the Eiffel Tower are Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  • There are much fewer visitors after 7 p.m. The morning is also a quiet time, but only till 11 a.m.
  • For a better experience, avoid the afternoons.

Good to know! The number of visitors is limited. You need to buy the entry tickets in advance: tickets to the Eiffel Tower.

2. What you need to know before visiting the Eiffel Tower

3 floors. The Eiffel Tower has 3 floors. The first floor is 57 meters, the second is 116 meters, and the last one (the summit or the top) is 276 meters.

Good to know. The gap between the 2nd and the summit is quite significant. The view is entirely different and much more impressive from the summit. However, without clear weather, you may not see anything on the top of the Eiffel Tower.

Stairs or elevators? You can go to the top of the Eiffel Tower ONLY with elevators. However, you can take the stairs to the 1st and the 2nd floors. The tickets have different prices depending on if you are taking the elevators (about twice the price), or the stairs (compare fares here).

3. How much time do you need to visit the Eiffel Tower?

Plan for at least 2 hours. If you are going to the top of the Eiffel Tower, plan at least 2 hours of visit, to eventually queue a little bit for admission, then for the elevators and enough time to enjoy the view.

Additional time needed. However, add some more time if you visit the Eiffel Tower in the afternoon when it is more crowded. You will also need more time if you plan to take the stairs instead of the elevators (different tickets with different prices). Plan at least 40 minutes to go to the 2nd floor by the stairs.

We once heard visitors in Paris saying that the French are not the most welcoming people. It made us sad. That's why we started this blog! So you can get the best information for your travel to France! Of course, we love Paris. We have lived in multiple areas, from Canal St Martin to right next to the Eiffel Tower. We also explore regions of France whenever we can. Our favorites for a weekend away from Paris are Etretat and Mont Saint Michel. The beautiful French Riviera is a marvelous place to explore for a week.
